Oscar Isaac Details Moon Knight's Emotional Deleted Scene

Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight arrived last March and had a monumental streaming success along with the warm welcome from the fans for the new MCU hero. The Disney+ show highlights Marc Spector and Steven Grant's dissociative identity disorder, while also dealing with their traumatic upbringing under the influence of their abusive mother. Although the show settled affairs with Marc and Steven at the show's conclusion, a deleted scene was also supposed to tie their mother with the Egyptian villainous god, Ammit.

In an interview with Gold Derby, Moon Knight's Oscar Isaac sheds some light on the show's deleted scene, that's supposed to tie Mark and Steven's abusive mother to Ammit.

"And in some ways, we tried to push it more," Isaac said. "There was a great scene at the end of [Episode] 6 that just didn’t quite fit in the rhythm of it and that was one scene that, for me, would have tied in mother and Ammit a little closer, because that’s also why I came up with this “Later’s gators” thing because then she says, 'After a while, crocodile.' And so for me, that’s like… she said, 'Crocodile.' She was the crocodile goddess that’s saying, 'I wish I could pre-judge you because you would never have… this never would have happened.' So for me, it was really important even if the audience doesn’t get it literally, that there’s some even subtextual emotional connection to everything that’s happening.”

Aside from the epic battle between Ammit and Khonshu and Layla's development as Scarlet Scarab, Marc and Steven's reconciliation was also one of the awesome things about the Disney+ show's conclusion. Moon Knight extensively dived into mental health traumas compared to other Disney+ shows and this scrapped scene would have been really significant for both Marc and Steven’s arc.

Nevertheless, Moon Knight ended with a thrilling cliffhanger featuring the arrival of another persona, Jake Lockley, as he escorts Arthur Harrow back to Khonshu. With that said, a second season is extremely plausible, and Moon Knight can still explore more of Steven and Marc's mental recovery from their abusive mother.

All episodes of Moon Knight are available to stream on Disney+.
