The hype for One Piece has reached a fever pitch given that it finally releases on Netflix tomorrow. Ahead of the show’s premiere, One Piece live-action star Iñaki Godoy is telling fans to go outside in a new video message.

This comes as a surprise given that it’s pretty much the opposite of Eiichiro Oda’s recent message which encourages fans to watch the show. However, there is a pretty good reason for this.

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has a lot of interesting themes, though one of the biggest ones is the thrill of adventure that’s embodied by the Straw Hat Crew.

Aside from being one reason Iñaki Godoy shared a message asking fans to go out, this theme of the series seems to be a guiding principle to Netflix’s marketing of the show.

After all, there’s a series of fan events that began last week. In total, there are 10 fan events around the world, all of which feature special events and an exclusive screening of the show’s first episode.

Netflix’s global event kicked off in Los Angeles on August 24. It was then followed by a premiere event in Paris yesterday, August 29. Today, four more events took place in Jakarta, Tokyo, Milan, and Manila.

Finally, tomorrow will also feature three in-person fan screenings in Bangkok, Rio de Janeiro, and Mexico City. Plus, there will be a virtual screening in Germany.

Even for those who can’t make it to the fan events, Luffy actor Iñaki Godoy asks fans to go outside and have their own adventure, much like the Straw Hat Crew does in the series.

Godoy talked about this in a new video that was shared on the One Piece Netflix X (formerly Twitter) account. Check it out here:

What’s cool about this is that you can think of it less like a promotion and more like an inspiring message to go outside and have real-life adventures.

It is a bit funny, especially considering that Godoy essentially told anime fans to go outside and touch the grass.

Before you go out though, you might want to watch the One Piece live-action series as it finally premieres on Netflix tomorrow.
