In the latest chapters of One Piece, Sentomaru plays a significant role in defending Egghead Island, especially Dr. Vegapunk, from the marine fleet headed by Kizaru and St. Jaygarcia Saturn. He may be a powerful and skilled fighter, but is Sentomaru alive in One Piece?
The exciting events on Egghead Island are unfolding as Kizaru infiltrates the Frontier Dome, where Dr. Vegapunk and some of his remaining satellites are staying.
It is up to Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates to help Dr. Vegapunk escape from the island, with the help of Jewelry Bonney, the satellites, and even Sentomaru!

What Happened to Sentomaru on Egghead Island?
Sentomaru is known for being a loyal servant of the World Government, but with how things are unfolding in Egghead, Sentomaru turns his back to protect Dr. Vegapunk, even if it means having an alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates.
With this, Sentomaru has two close encounters with death on Egghead Island, and one of them almost looks like it will be the end for our battle-hammer-wielding bison.
The first one happened during the arrival of CPO, headed by Rob Lucci, on the island. Surprisingly, they attacked the island upon seeing the Straw Hat Pirates, even if they hadn’t received orders to engage from the higher-ups.
While Lucci and Luffy are fighting each other, Sentomaru arrives with three seraphims (that look like ex-warlords) to help chase the CP0 after knowing their ulterior motives on the island.
As requested by Dr. Vegapunk, Sentomaru orders the seraphims to engage with CP0. He can control these seraphims since he has the authority needed to command them.
In the midst of the fighting, Sentomaru had a short talk with Luffy, which ended with Lucci giving a sneaky handgun attack against Sentomaru.
Thankfully, Sentomaru was able to block it, but he still sustained fatal injuries. By the end of the chapter, Sentomaru had entrusted Dr. Vegapunk to Luffy in the hopes that he would be able to get him off the island alive.
Sentomaru’s second encounter with death happened recently, in Chapter 1091, following his heroic attempt to prevent the marine fleet, including some of the Vice Admirals, from touching down on Egghead Island.
He also put up a fight against Kizaru, despite knowing how big the gap is between them when it comes to combat and fighting prowess.
He gave his word to Luffy, which is why giving up in front of his uncle Kizaru (not biologically related) is not an option.
What matters most to Sentomaru is Dr. Vegapunk, because he saved his life. He ought to return the favor, and if it meant dying for the doctor, he would do it at all costs, despite becoming a traitor.
Sentomaru’s past was also revealed prior to his time with Dr. Vegapunk. As it turns out, Sentomaru also shared a history with Kizaru, who was always with Dr. Vegapunk back in the day.
Dr. Vegapunk took Sentomaru in as his bodyguard, even if he was just a kid. He also learned from Kizaru because he liked him a lot back when he was young and cute.
He often made Kizaru laugh, and the two of them have been close since that day. But look at them now, fighting against each other with different goals in mind.
As Sentomaru attacks with his Ashigara Palm, Kizaru counters with a massive attack! It was the last we’ve seen of Sentomaru, and now readers are wondering about his current situation.
What will happen to Sentomaru? Did Kizaru’s attack kill him?
So, Is Sentomaru Alive?
As of One Piece Chapter 1093, Sentomaru’s status is still unknown, whether he died or survived on Egghead Island following his showdown against Kizaru.
Sentomaru was shown saving Bonney after she hit the barrier and fell down. Later, Sentomaru was lying unconscious on the ground with a burnt body.
Bonney is worried about him, but Sentomaru wants her to flee from the island to save herself from the Marines.
It is up to Dr. Vegapunk, Atlas, Sanji, and Franky to save them both.
He may be strong and brave, but Sentomaru is not on par with Kizaru, which is why Dr. Vegapunk regrets Sentomaru’s decision to continue fighting such a strong opponent.
Some fans believe that this is the last time we will be seeing Sentomaru in Egghead since he has done his role.
He’s not the holder of the authority chip that commands the seraphims as well, and the damage he sustained from Kizaru is no joke, unlike the one he sustained against Lucci earlier on the island.
On the other hand, some readers believe that Sentomaru will make an appearance again.
St. Jaygarcia Saturn considers Sentomaru a valuable asset; it’s just that they have greater priorities to pursue rather than deal with Sentomaru now.
Knowing this, we’re guessing that Sentomaru will still participate in the plan to help the Straw Hats escape the island with Dr. Vegapunk.
He will make an appearance and probably make a sacrifice to buy time (once again), which will take Kizaru by surprise. Like always, take all these predictions with a grain of salt.
