The promotion for the latest One Piece movie continues as Uta from One Piece Film: Red performed live today on YouTube in a special virtual performance.
Specifically, the One Piece world’s most popular singer, Uta, went live on YouTube today at 8 PM JST to perform the song, New Genesis.
While it’s not a typical live performance as Uta is a character, the performance does take place in several real locations in Japan.
Who Is Uta in One Piece Film: Red?
In case you’re unfamiliar, Uta is one of the main characters of the new One Piece movie, One Piece Film: Red.
She is an original character made for the movie, and she is the world’s most popular singer.
The film’s story follows Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew as they attend Uta’s concert. Though it is soon revealed that Luffy knows Uta from his childhood as Uta is the daughter of the legendary pirate, Red-Haired Shanks.
One Piece Film: Red is the 15th film in the series, and it premiered in Japan last July during the One Piece Day celebration.
Following its premiere, the movie got a general release in Japan in August, followed by cinema releases in select countries.
After its initial run in Japan, it was soon confirmed by Toei Animation that the movie will be released in more countries internationally this November, including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and more.
Even before its wide release in the West, the film is already a major box office hit. Not only did it break opening weekend records in Japan, but it also quickly became the highest-grossing film in the series.

Uta's Live Performance
Uta performed live during the One Piece Day celebration, though only a few select fans were able to watch it live.
But with this performance today, fans from all over the world can watch Uta perform the film’s theme song.

While Uta is voiced by Kaori Nazuka, her singing voice is provided by Ado, a popular Japanese singer who went viral in late 2020 for her song Usseewa.
Aside from New Genesis, Ado provided six more songs for the movie, including a track that was produced by Hiroyuki Sawano of Attack on Titan fame.
One Piece Film: Red will release in the US, the UK, Canada, and more tomorrow, November 4, 2022.
