With the film’s release in Japan just a month away, One Piece Film: Red IMAX screenings have been announced, with a new IMAX visual also being released.

The movie’s IMAX screening confirmation was announced via the One Piece Film: Red Twitter account and the official website. According to the website post, the One Piece movie is planned to release in 40 IMAX theaters in Japan.

One Piece Film: Red's IMAX screening will let viewers watch the film on a much bigger screen than in typical theaters.

Aside from the larger screen, the film’s music is said to be a highlight in this version as the sound is specially tuned for IMAX theaters.

IMAX screenings for anime movies are not new. Over the last couple of years, several anime films have received IMAX screenings both in Japan and internationally. These movies include Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train and Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

Though aside from IMAX, fans of One Piece will also be able to watch the film in MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Atmos screenings in Japan.

As for the IMAX visual, this new poster depicts the 10 members of the Straw Hat gang in full battle uniform. This is the first time that all 10 members are depicted in a visual for the One Piece movie.

Behind them are Uta and Shanks, with Uta having a bright expression and with a microphone in hand. For contrast, Shanks looks on grimly, with rain to add further contrast.

One Piece Film: Red is the fifteenth feature film in the long-running One Piece series, and it will star the Straw Hat crew along with the new character, Uta.

The film was initially announced back in November 2021 to commemorate the 1000th episode of the anime series.

One Piece Film: Red will release in cinemas across Japan on August 6, 2022. The film is scheduled to release in Fall 2022 in select territories, including the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, and more.

There’s no official announcement yet for an international IMAX release for the One Piece movie. Though this is likely given that movies such as Jujutsu Kaisen 0 have gotten IMAX screenings internationally.
