We may see more of Obi-Wan!

Ewan McGregor returned to play the titular character in Disney+'s Star Wars spin-off, which was released in June 2022. He was initially set to star in Lucasfilm's Star Wars anthology series, but when the series was scrapped and Disney+ was launched, Obi-Wan's story was turned into a Disney+ original instead.

The first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi was a success, so much so that there have been calls for a second season. So far, here is everything we know about a possible Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2.

When was Obi-Wan Kenobi renewed for a second season?

As of writing, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series has not been renewed for season two. If Disney was to continue the series, they could announce their plans during their annual Disney+ Day, to be held on September 8, 2022.

Two months after season 1 ended, during the fan Q&A segment of the Celebrity Fan Fest, Obi-Wan Kenobi lead star Ewan McGregor shared his interest in returning to play the Jedi Master for another season.

Through @allthingskenobi, McGregor said there were no plans for a second season yet, but he believes that Disney+ and Lucasfilm are just "bidding their time" before announcing the sequel.

McGregor's comment about the series renewal sparked hope for fans, especially since the show was supposed to be a limited series.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

The first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi ended on a good note for the Jedi Master, who found his way back in the path of the force. If season 2 happens, the series can no longer continue on the rivalry between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader because the first season wrapped that chapter up cleanly.

If renewed, Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 could focus on Obi-Wan re-learning how to live life as a Jedi Master with the help of Qui-Gon's ghost from the force. The second season may also introduce us to new characters and Obi-Wan's new life.
