NU’EST Minhyun is facing a health issue before the boy group’s impending disbandment.

For the last time, NU’EST members Ren, Baekho, JR, Aron, and Minhyun penned heartfelt letters to fans following the announcement about their disbandment after 10 years of performing together. Although Minhyun will stay under Pledis Entertainment, he and Baekho’s co-members decided not to renew their contract.

Despite the announcement of the group’s split, NU’EST still pledged to drop one last album this month. But before they are able to bid goodbye, Minhyun suffered from COVID-19 symptoms after testing positive for the virus.

NU’EST Minhyun Contracts COVID-19

Pledis Entertainment released a statement on Wednesday confirming that the K-pop idol contracted COVID-19. According to the agency, Minhyun experienced a mild fever and sore throat on Tuesday, prompting him to undergo a COVID-19 test using a self-testing kit.

His initial test showed negative results, but he still tried a preemptive rapid antigen test which showed positive results. He was then diagnosed with COVID-19 after testing positive in the PCR test, as well.

Pledis Entertainment pledged to support Minhyun through his recovery while following the guidelines imposed amid the pandemic.

NU’EST to Disband This Month

Minhyun’s positive results came after the agency confirmed on WeVerse that the boy group would disband after nearly 10 years. The five members’ contracts will expire on March 14, but only Baekho and Minhyun decided to continue working with the agency.

Meanwhile, JR, Aron, and Ren decided not to sign new contracts.

Still, Pledis Entertainment thanked the boy group for doing their best as K-pop idols over the past ten years before revealing that they would still release an album under the company this month.
