After working on one of last year’s most acclaimed anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners creator Rafal Jaki has won a Jump+ publication for his manga series titled No\Name.
Jaki’s latest work, which is illustrated by MACHINE GAMU, is the first-ever winner of the Manga Plus Creators Gold Award.
This is a major achievement, especially considering that this is the first time the award has been given since the Creators platform was launched back in mid-2022.
No\Name Becomes First Manga Plus Creators Gold Award Winner
Manga Plus Creators was officially launched back in August 2022, and it is the self-publishing platform of Manga Plus. Essentially, it’s a platform where users can submit their manga or manga-inspired works.
To coincide with the platform’s launch, a Monthly Awards program began. How it works is that the top 10 works in the platform every month will be judged by a team of Shueisha editors.
Four awards can be given every month. The first is the Creators Award, which gives the author a prize of JPY 20,000 (around USD 130).
Then, the Bronze and Silver Awards give authors JPY 100,000 (around USD 670) and JPY 300,000 (around USD 2,000), respectively along with a Manga Plus release.
Finally, the Gold Award features a JPY 1 million (around USD 6,700) prize, as well as a Manga Plus and Shonen Jump+ subscription.
Since the awards began, no work has received a Gold Award. This is likely because the editors have high standards as a Jump+ publication is part of the prize.
Finally, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners creator Rafal Jaki’s No\Name manga was awarded Gold.
With this, the series will get an English release on Manga Plus, as well as a Japanese release on Jump+ soon.

No\Name Manga Is Surprisingly Not a Cyberpunk Series
The series has yet to start its Manga Plus and Jump+ run, but its first chapter is currently available for free on the Creators platform.
Based on its visual, the two main characters seem to be inspired by Edgerunners’ Rebecca and David. Make no mistake though, this manga is not a cyberpunk work.
Instead, it is a dark action mystery that’s set in Northern Europe. In its setting, supernatural powers are attributed to a person’s name.
The series follows a man with wolf companions and a werebear girl as they investigate a missing child’s case.
Readers of the first chapter had high praise for it, with many being impressed by the unique power system and impressive art style.
For now, there’s no word yet on when No\Name will begin publication in Manga Plus and Jump+.
