New The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Featurette Reveals Bucky and Sam's Mindset

There is little doubt that Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes are going through a lot in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. But what is truly going on in their minds? The new featurette for the Marvel Cinematic Universe series reveals Sam and Bucky's mindset after the events in Avengers: Endgame.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier featurette is titled Continuation and it immediately picks up where we last see Sam and Bucky in Endgame, which is when Steve Rogers finally handed the Captain America shield to Sam. Director Kari Skogland explains that the series will reveal the effects of Steve's decision on Sam.

But how do the two truly feel now that Steve has moved on and is no longer an active part of their lives? Executive producer Nate Moore explains that the series will explore the human side of Bucky and Sam.

"For Bucky, it's the legacy of the Winter Soldier," Moore says, adding that "his anchor point to the person who knew him before he was a murder machine no longer exists." This leads to Bucky feeling "unmoored" and having to "look for his purpose."

So what's happening with Sam? Head writer Malcolm Spellman stated that it would be "dishonest on a human level" if the series simply "had this Black man just accept this symbol without having real ambivalence about it."

There is little doubt that these two people will be struggling in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier but at least Sam and Bucky have each other. We're truly looking forward to them working together in the next episode of the MCU series.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 2 breaths of air on Disney+ on March 26.
