New Scream (2022) TV Spots Reveal a New Kind of Ghostface

Scream (2022) has just unleashed a bunch of new TV spots, which follow its initial main trailer and a featurette with the cast and crew just weeks ago! Now, let's find out what everyone's favorite scary movie franchise has in store for audiences this January...

Scream (2022) is taking a leaf out of Halloween (2018)'s book, in that it's not interested in adding a number to the end of the title, and while we know it's a sequel and not a reboot, it's clear that the franchise is probably making yet another attempt at generating more movies.

Check out the first of three brand-new TV spots below, titled "Bad Blood":

"I know your little family secret," Ghostface tells a helpless Jenna Ortega. "The killer's connected to something in the past," Dewey (David Arquette) says in another scene. But what is it? Well, we know from the official trailer that the new Ghostface is targeting relatives of all the previous killers!

The movie's new 'final girl' (Melissa Barrera) says, "I'm just trying to protect my family," which would suggest that she might be one of those relatives. It's certainly an interesting new motive, but while many fans theorize that this new Ghostface is a vigilante, they're still targeting innocent people!

Either way, we get the whole "bad blood" reference. But does it go a little deeper than the relatives of the previous killers keeping secrets?

The second TV spot is titled "Link to the past." Check it out below:

Once again, we see Jenna Ortega's character attacked by Ghostface (seeing as this is the fourth trailer with the same opening, it's clear the filmmakers are trying to keep plot details under wraps - we just wish other movie trailers would do the same).

Sidney (Neve Campbell) says, "Whatever his link is to our past, it's pulled us all back here," referring of course to herself, Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Dewey. We then see a confrontation between Sidney and Ghostface, during which the killer tells her their meeting is "an honor".

As we know Ghostface is targeting the relatives of previous killers, does this "link to the past" include Sidney, seeing as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) was one of them?

The trilogy-topping TV spot is titled "Not this movie, Sidney" - check it out below:

This is the most revealing TV spot, perhaps even more than the official trailer itself. With that said, it does include a bunch of scenes we've already seen in all the other TV spots and trailers (though we completely understand why - the Scream franchise is the ultimate whodunnit).

Nevertheless, we do get to see a metallic Ghostface mask, while they're also wielding a flame-thrower! But the most chilling part is when Sidney, who is on the phone with the killer, tells them, "I've seen this movie before," to which Ghostface replies, "Not this movie, Sidney."

What does Ghostface mean by "Not this movie?" What new tricks will Scream (2022) have up the sleeves of its long black cloak?
