New Sabrina the Teenage Witch Comic Book is Less Chilling, More Chill

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is doing really well for Netflix right now, getting rave reviews and a lot of attention from viewers. While a lot of people are digging the horror-aesthetic of the show, as the source material actually benefits from the major tonal change (something that can't be said for Riverdale), some old-school fans miss the old days when Sabrina was using magic to fix her hair and be popular.

Luckily, those fans have a new comic book series to look forward to, one that embraces the sillier elements of the older comics and shows. Entertainment Weekly has announced that Archie Comics will release a new Sabrina the Teenage Witch five-issue mini-series. It will be written by West Coast Avengers writer Kelly Thompson and illustrated by the husband-and-wife team of Veronica and Andy Fish.

Anyone who has read Thompson's Marvel comics knows that she has a knack for comedy and dialogue, which makes her perfect for a lighter Sabrina series. Thompson's run on Hawkeye was nominated for an Eisner award and she is slated to write a brand-new Captain Marvel series for Marvel.

Fans hoping for more horror-oriented Sabrina action are better off waiting for that holiday special that will be coming to Netflix. They can also pick up the original Chilling Adventures of Sabrina graphic novel, which inspired the Netflix series.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch #1 will hit comic shelves on March 2019. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina can now be streamed on Netflix.
