There are already lots of Fate anime series, and a new one is joining them soon. Recently, a Fate/strange Fake TV anime special was announced, and it will air this December.
The announcement was made during Aniplex Online Fest 2022 which happened last Saturday, September 24.
There, details about the upcoming anime were revealed, including the cast, staff, and more. Info on the anime was also shared on the official website.

This upcoming anime is entitled Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn and is based on the Fate/strange Fake light novel series by Ryogo Narita, the author of Baccano! and Durarara!!.
Even for fans of the Fate series, strange Fake isn’t as well-known as the original Fate/Stay Night visual novel or the Fate/Grand Order game.
This is because the light novel series has only been released in Japan, with no English release planned.
The series began as a prologue that was published on Narita’s website, though it was soon revealed to be an April Fool’s prank.
Soon though, it was re-released in the form of a novel in the magazine TYPE-MOON Ace 2 in 2009.
In 2014, a proper light novel and manga series were announced for Fate/strange Fake, and both were released in January 2015.
The series’ story follows a Grail War that’s faultily copied from the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki.
This false Grail War began when an organization from the US took data from the Third Grail War to plan their own in Snowfield.
After 70 years, this new Grail War began, though it was faulty as it couldn’t summon proper servants.
Because of this, the Mage’s Association sent Rohngall and Faldeus to investigate Snowfield.
There, Faldeus reveals that he is a spy from the US organization, and he claims that their new Holy Grail War is real.
This upcoming anime is directed by Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume, with character design by Yukei Yamada. Animated by A-1 Pictures, the upcoming anime will also feature music by Hiroyuki Sawano.
As for its cast, the anime features:
- Kana Hanazawa as Ayaka Sajo
- Yuki Ono as Saber
- Tomokazu Seki as Archer
- Yu Kobayashi as Lancer
This Fate/strange Fake is not an anime series though. Instead, it is an OVA that will be released on December 31, 2022, during the Fate Project New Year's TV Special.
