New Details on the All-Woman Into the Spider-Verse Spinoff

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is testing very well with critics that Sony has already approved a sequel as well as an all-woman spinoff. Thanks to Collider's Jeff Sneider, we get a bit more info on the all-female film.

This is his post on Twitter:

While no director is listed on the report, it has been previously said by THR that Lauren Montgomery (Voltron) is attached to the helm. Besides possible inclusions of Spider-Gwen and Peni Parker, other names that have also been mentioned are Silk, Madame Web, Spider-Woman, and Spider-Girl.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hasn't even officially come out yet, but early reviews have been branding it the best animated movie of the year. There are also talks that Spider-Verse may even be the best superhero movie of the year, add to that the best Spider-Man film ever made.

Then again, just because critics loved it doesn't really mean the audience will be thinking the same—just ask the likes of Blade Runner 2049 and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Then again, Spider-Verse does have a lot of great things going for it already; plus the trailer is pretty fantastic.

Bitten by a radioactive spider, teenager Miles Morales suddenly develops mysterious powers that transform him into Spider-Man. He must now use his newfound skills to battle the Kingpin, a hulking madman who can open portals to other dimensions.

Catch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in theaters Dec. 14.
