Aquaman actress Amber Heard seems to be at peace these days despite all of the controversy surrounding her personal life and her heated legal battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp but according to a new rumor, her position in the DC Extended Universe could still be in jeopardy should things go south with the legal cases she's currently facing.

Tipster Grace Randolph recently reported that the DCEU could be introducing a new female hero to "balance things out" in the franchise. She's also hinting that the said female lead could debut in Aquaman 2. According to Randolph, this is a way for Warner Bros. to cut their ties with the Mera actress if the situation should call for it. As of now, however, Heard is still scheduled to return for the sequel.

She wrote: "Some of you are asking re Amber Heard - as I told you before, they are bringing on this new female lead to balance things out, and writing the script so that Heard's role can be cut down if needed. But as of right now she's still in #Aquaman2"

Of course, take everything with a grain of salt. We still have to wait and see what goes down in Aquaman 2 but by the looks of it, Amber will still be sticking around in the DC film franchise. We also reported earlier this month that she's set for a huge character upgrade in Zack Snyder's Justice League, potentially replacing her co-star Jason Momoa in a pivotal scene. I don't know about you but the studio obviously sees something in the controversial star.

That said, Justice League will hit HBO Max in March 2021.
