It turns out Thing is with Wednesday in Nevermore Academy and she accuses Thing of spying on her and being sent by her parents. To deal with Thing, Wednesday has two sinister options: lock Thing up or have the loyalty of Thing pledged to her.

With Thing having to choose the latter choice, Wednesday talks him out on her first plan of action at Nevermore Academy: escape and get out of there.
