Netflix Cancels Inside Job Despite Season 2 Renewal

Inside Job will not be returning for Season 2. Creator Shion Takeuchi has just confirmed that Netflix has pulled the plug on the animated series although it has been renewed for a second season.

Shion Takeuchi took to Twitter to share the news, claiming that the previous speculations are true. The Inside Job creator also thanked fans who have supported the show in its first and only season.

"I'm heartbroken to confirm that Netflix has decided to cancel Season 2 of Inside Job. Over the years, these characters have become real people to me, and I am devastated not to be able to watch them grow up. Reagan and Brett deserved to get their ending and finally find happiness. And I would have loved to been able to share what was in store with you all," Takeuchi wrote.

"To everyone who watched, thank you for coming along on the ride. Even though I'm sad, it helps to know that there's people out there who cared just as much about these characters as me," the message concluded.

It's certainly heartbreaking considering that people were already expecting Inside Job Season 2. The second season was originally announced in June 2022 and fans were already looking forward to seeing what would happen to Reagan Ridley and Brett Hand. Unfortunately, it looks like we'll never find out what Project X37 was all about.

Inside Job starred Lizzy Caplan as Reagan, a robotic engineer working for the shadow government organization Cognito, Inc. that is one of six organizations that secretly controls the world.

For now, it is unclear if Inside Job Season 2 will be picked up by a different streaming service. Still, fans are holding on to hope that the show can continue on a different network. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The first season of Inside Job consists of 18 episodes which are still streaming on Netflix.
