Inside Job: Netflix Orders Adult Animated Series from Gravity Falls Creator

Alex Hirsch had created a pop culture gold mine with Gravity Falls, and he's currently signed up a deal with Netflix to work on an adult animated series. Good news is, it looks like Netflix has approved of his new show, and we're looking at a 20-episode order for something called Inside Job.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is described as "workplace comedy set in the shadow government, where every conspiracy theory — from the Illuminati to Reptoids — is true, and one woman struggles to keep the chaos under wraps."

Joining Hirsch as showrunner will be Shion Takeuchi, who has also worked on shows like Gravity Falls and Regular Show, and even has credits with Pixar movies like Inside Out and Monsters University. With both Hirsch and Takeuchi having done great work with PG-friendly ratings, I'm wondering what they could come up with when they're allowed the freedom of an adult show.

Looking at the description for Inside Job though, it seems that some elements from Gravity Falls have influenced the series. GF was chock-full of hidden conspiracies and weird revelations as well. I'm starting to wonder if this show is going to come out as its spiritual successor. I guess all we can really do is wait until we get our first look.

Maybe if this succeeds, we could also see Netflix picking up J.G. Quintel's Close Enough. The show looks amazing but was pulled out of TBS before we could even check it out. At least we still have the fantastic trailer:

No release date has been set for Inside Job.
