As its title implies, Boruto follows the next generation of ninjas following the climactic war at the end of the Naruto series.

The manga was originally written by Ukyo Kodachi, though Masashi Kishimoto became the writer starting November 2020. Mikio Ikemoto continues to be its illustrator.

The manga began serialization in May 2016, and it got an anime series adaptation from Pierrot in April 2017. Both the manga and the anime are ongoing.
