As fans eagerly await the anime’s seventh season, the My Hero Academia manga shared the official Volume 38 cover art, and it puts the spotlight on Himiko Toga.

Despite being a popular character, this is the first time that Toga is the sole cover star of a My Hero Academia manga volume.

While she has appeared in a previous cover, Toga was joined by the other members of the League of Villains.

Based on the sheer number of cosplays and fanart of her, it’s fair to say that Himiko Toga is one of the most popular characters in My Hero Academia, especially when it comes to villains.

There have been discussions about what makes her so popular, and some believe that her appeal lies in her design as well as her chaotic personality.

From the looks of it though, it seems that Toga’s popularity is more pronounced among international fans. At least, that’s based on the official Japanese character popularity polls.

Since the manga began, there have been eight polls in Weekly Shonen Jump. While Toga has gotten as high as ninth place, she is typically ranked around 20th place in most of the polls.

While this means she’s not as popular as many of the Pro Heroes, she’s still typically among the top-ranked villains alongside the likes of Tomura Shigaraki and Dabi.

While Shigaraki and Dabi have appeared in solo covers, it’s finally time for Toga to take center stage.

The Volume 38 cover art was revealed via the official My Hero Academia Twitter account earlier today. Along with the art, the volume’s release date was also revealed.

In this cover, Toga is shown seemingly mid-transformation as she’s not wearing her signature school uniform-style outfit. The cover art also features striking colors that many fans praised in the replies.

Toga being on the Volume 38 cover is fitting given that the chapters in this compilation chronicle her major moment in the final arc where she transforms into Twice.

The My Hero Academia manga's Volume 38 will be released in Japan on June 2, 2023. Based on the manga’s English compiled releases, this volume should be released sometime in 2024.
