Anime promotional events with different Japanese cities have become quite common these days as these are great ways to drive tourist interest. Now, another such event is happening soon. This time, My Dress-Up Darling inspired real-life Hina dolls of Gojo and Marin in its Saitama City collab.

In the anime, Wakana Gojo is a high school student who trains as a Hina doll craftsman. Thus, it’s no surprise that the anime’s new collab event features Hina dolls as one of its highlights.

This isn’t the first time that the anime will hold such an event. Beginning last year, the show has been involved in promotional events of Iwatsuki.

Last year, My Dress-Up Darling held an exhibition in Tokyo to highlight the Iwatsuki Ningyo dolls that are made in Saitama. Iwatsuki is a ward in Saitama which is known for its history of crafting ningyo dolls.

To be exact, Hina dolls are a type of ningyo that represent the Emperor and Empress of Japan. These dolls are an important part of the Hinamatsuri or Dolls’ Day celebration in the country.

Then in April 2023, the city of Saitama collaborated with the anime at the Iwatsuki Ningyo Museum to show off more of the traditional Japanese craft.

Now, My Dress-Up Darling is holding another event, and this time, it will be held in Tokyo once again in December.

This event will feature ningyo doll-making demonstrations, artisan workshops, photo spots, and real-life location highlights from the anime.

What’s more, the event will also feature Hina dolls inspired by Wakana Gojo and Marin Kitagawa.

These dolls were initially shown at the collab event last year. At the time, only their kashira (their face and body) were finished.

At the upcoming event, fans will be able to see the final form of the Marin and Gojo dolls. This was confirmed via the Saitama Life's X (formerly Twitter) account.

Looking at the teaser image for the dolls, they closely resemble their anime counterparts based on their faces. It’ll be interesting to see how their final forms will look when in full costume.

The My Dress-Up Darling and Iwatsuki Ningyo collab will take place at KITTE Marunouchi in Tokyo on December 9 and 10, 2023.
