One of the mysteries in the series has something to do with the disappearance of Kim Doo-sik, Bong-seok’s father. Not even his wife Lee Mi-hyun nor his work partner Jang Ju-won know what really happened to him.

In 1994, Kim Doo-sik was sent to North Korea to kill the Supreme Leader but did not do so. However, due to Doo-sik, North Korean officers were executed.

In 2003, when Doo-sik was captured from his house, he was tasked to go back to North Korea. He agrees after Min Yong-jun promises that it will be his last assignment.

Unfortunately, when he returned, North Korea was also training superhumans, and so they managed to capture Doo-sik. So, all this time, Doo-sik has been detained in North Korea.

Later on, Jun-hwa, a North Korean soldier with flying abilities, releases Doo-sik from prison and informs him that his son will be taken advantage of just like what happened to him. Doo-sik then goes back to South Korea and kills Min Yong-jun.
