What’s actually trending this season is Dropkick on My Devil Season 3. Specifically, one particular clip already has over a million views and counting.

On the Crunchyroll Collection YouTube channel, you might be surprised to see that this clip of Dropkick on My Devil has the highest view count amongthis season’s anime (not counting opening and ending themes).
So, why did it become the most trending anime of Summer 2022? That’s because it features a cameo appearance from the ever-popular Vocaloid, Hatsune Miku.
Hatsune Miku is one of the most iconic characters from Japan. Despite this, Miku rarely appears in anime, nor does she have an anime series of her own. So, it’s no surprise to see this clip of her trend online.
This Dropkick on My Devil clip didn’t just trend in the West though, it was also a big hit in Japan. In fact, the anime’s official YouTube channel saw an over 10,000% increase in views after uploading clips featuring Miku.

Dropkick on My Devil (Jashin-chan Doroppukikku in Japanese) is a comedy anime series by studio Nomad which is based on the manga of the same name by Yukiwo.
The series follows the witch named Yurine Hanazono who summons a lamia (a child-eating moster) called Jashin from hell. To go back to hell, Jashin must kill her summoner, but she is unable to do so due to her incompetence.
The series’ first and second seasons aired in 2018 and 2020 respectively. Meanwhile, Season 3 (officially entitled Dropkick on My Devil!!! X) started airing in July following a successful crowdfunding campaign.
