The hype is real as Mortal Kombat arrives in a few days and recently, the film released the first seven minutes with the showdown of Joe Taslim's Bi-Han/ Sub-Zero and Hiroyuki Sanada's Hanzo Hasashi/ Scorpion in an epic fight as Hanzo avenges his family killed by Bi-Han. With such an iconic scene out in the open, is Scorpion a good guy in the film?

Is Scorpion a Good Guy in Mortal Kombat 2021 Movie?

The fact that he has been fighting Bi-Han/ Sub-Zero from the start is telling that Hanzo Hasashi is a good guy. As seen in the first seven minutes of the film, he is fighting for a pure cause, for his beloved family that Bi-Han mercilessly killed. In various snippets from different trailers and featurettes, we see him take a stand against Bi-Han in a different setting.

However, while Hanzo is a good guy, Scorpion, his alter-ego character, has a sinister appearance as seen when he burst into flames seemingly showing something dark inside of him. In the game, he is not really evil, he just joined the evil side so he could be resurrected on Earth and take his revenge plan in action.

That, in itself, supports the fact that he is fighting off a villain, making him act for the cause of the good side. He's taking on Sub-Zero, one of the most powerful fighters on the side of Emperor Shang-Tsung of the Outworld. In an amazing face-off, they both dance in the fight of fire and ice, one which is so poetically made, it would leave you in awe.

With the upcoming film, it is expected that Hanzo/Scorpion is one of the good guys fighting against the threat posed by Emperor Shang-Tsung on the Earthrealm.

Joining Hiroyuki Sanada's Hanzo Hasashi/ Scorpion in the Kast are Mortal Kombat 2021 ensemble of stars are Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Mechad Brooks as Jax, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han/ Sub-Zero, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Max Huang as Kung Lao, Matilda Kimber as Emily Young, and Laura Brent as Allison Young.

Hanzo Hasashi/ Scorpion appears in Mortal Kombat premiering on April 23, 2021 in theaters and on HBO Max. For those in Canada, UK, and Australia, the film will also be available on video-on-demand platforms on the same date.
