Deadpool 2 writers have been teasing fans with breadcrumbs of what they can expect in the sequel. After stopping short of revealing which characters will be part of the "bigger cast" for the movie, new intel confirms the comeback of two heroes.
Speaking to Collider, Wernick and Reese confirmed (in a manner of speaking) that Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead will be back for another run. Between hesitant reveals, the two writers were able to offer something a little more certain:
Reese: I think we can say. Yea, they'll be in the sequel.
Wernick: Yeah, they'll make at least an appearance.
The mention of "appearance" is very tricky, especially when you remember that Deadpool's spirit is pretty much one of mischief. It begs the question: are we looking at major appearance with speaking lines (at least with Colossus)? Or is this more of a tongue-in-cheek appearance with a quick glimpse that Deadpool can poke fun at?
In any case, one character that we can expect in the movie is Cable. The writers and even Deadpool himself have confirmed that he will be in the movie. However, instead of speculations that a possible team-up between the two can happen, the creators are looking at maintaining a solo Deadpool movie.
Perhaps we'd have to wait until Deadpool becomes seamlessly integrated with X-Men or a reboot of the franchise before we ever get a Deadpool team-up.
Deadpool 2 is expected to start shooting sometime early this year with no release date announced yet. It will be directed by David Leitch, with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as the Merc with the Mouth.
