Millie Bobby Brown Reveals True Feelings With Stranger Things Ending After Season 5

Netflix's Stranger Things premiered in 2016 and became a blockbuster right away. Given that the show is already going on for multiple seasons and that its stars, who begin their journey in the show as children, are slowly entering adulthood, it's easy to forget that this drama has to end one way or another. One of its lead stars, Millie Bobby Brown, who portrays the show's hero Eleven, admitted she'd been living in Hawkins long enough that it might be time to say goodbye.

In an interview with Seventeen, the breakout star revealed that she is ready to say farewell to the hit drama. “I'm ready to wrap up. I feel like there's a lot of the story that's been told now,” she said. “It's been in our lives for a very long time. But I'm very ready to say goodbye to this chapter of my life, and open new ones up.” Brown added, “I'm able to create stories myself that are important to me and focus on the bigger picture. But I'm grateful [for the show].”

The Enola Holmes star also noted that she has no idea what the show's final outing is. “I don't know what it's about. I honestly don't know what it's about. Nobody's shared anything with me, so you'd have to ask the people that are experts in Stranger Things for that one.” Brown reasoned.

As for the new roles she intends to take on as she leaves the Netflix series, there are some directorial duties. “Yeah. [I'd do more directing]. I have many passions and ambitions, but I am also very aware that it takes a lot to fill those boots, and I don't want anything handed to me. I want to be able to work for what I want, and I'm striving for that,” she said.

Given Brown’s affecting portrayal of a girl with telekinetic powers in Stranger Things, it led her to land more projects, including additional films on Netflix, Enola Holmes, and the sequel, Enola Holmes 2. She's also set to star in two upcoming films: Damsel and Anthony and Joe Russo's The Electric State.

While the primary Stranger Things series on Netflix may be coming to an end, there are several projects in development to continue the franchise’s narrative. The first of these is the confirmed Vecna's origin tale in the Stranger Things live stage production. The show's official teaser trailer reveals that it will take place in Hawkins in 1959.
