With the ongoing buzz surrounding the Daredevil: Born Again miniseries, it’s no surprise that audiences are curious if other characters associated with Netflix’s Defenders Saga are boarding the MCU ship next.

Mike Colter, the actor who played the Harlem hero with super strength and impenetrable skin in two seasons of Luke Cage until 2018, reveals that he’s open to returning, under one condition: as long as he can work on his other projects.

“Only if it doesn’t affect my schedule in a way that I can’t do another season of Evil,” Colter shares with ComicBook.com, referencing his ongoing series on Paramount+. He is not just waiting for a call from Marvel (“I don't stay up at night thinking about it, nor do I recall it unless someone brings it up.”) but remains open to offers, given a “good script and idea that made sense.”

Earlier this year, showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker teased his plan for the cancelled third season, using a list of songs by the hip-hop group Public Enemy, which is possibly a reference for Luke Cage as the new 'sheriff' of Harlem, a role he declared for himself in the finale of Season 2.

The Defenders Saga was officially made MCU canon after the distribution rights returned to Disney, and soon after, Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) started appearing in high-profile MCU projects. The two will reunite in Born Again, which premieres in 2025. Another street-level defender, Punisher, is expected to star prominently in the continuation of Daredevil’s Netflix series.

Should Marvel’s plans not align with his, Colter shared that a possible recast does not bother him. He said in the past, “Whatever they do with that role, you know, Kevin Feige and the people at Marvel and Disney, they’ll do the right thing and fans will be happy about it and I’ll cheer for that person if it’s a recast or whatever.”
