Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Removing Microtransactions

The common consensus about Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is that it's a good game that is marred by microtransactions, which become prominent after the main campaign. Many fans were disappointed since they did like the game overall but the in-game purchases really hurt Shadow of War.

It seems like WB Games and Monolith have decided to listen to the fans, as an update that will remove all of the microtransactions has been announced.

An announcement was made on the WB Games Community forums regarding the removal of all microtransactions. Apparently, the developers realized that buying orcs made the game's Nemesis System feel less important since it was a big part of the previous installment, Shadow of Mordor. The Nemesis System allowed players to experience different scenarios when killed by orcs or taking them over.

Fans that still have leftover gold, which is only used for in-game currency, will have until May 8 to purchase any items. The permanent removal of Gold, War Chests, and the Market will take place on July 17, 2018. Players will also be happy to know that the game's Shadow Wars campaign will be updated, with new narrative elements.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The update for the removal of microtransactions should be out soon.
