Unlike Aquaman, Mera’s hydrokinesis has been the most evident superpower she has throughout the Aquaman film franchise thus far.

With Arthur Curry not having as much combat experience in the depths of the sea as Mera has, does this mean Mera is stronger than Aquaman? Here’s what we know.

The majority of the time, we see Mera being the head-on princess who always fights her battles with precision and calculated tactics. Thanks to her Hydrokinetic powers, she can control any form of water at her bidding.

And by any form of water, as seen in the first Aquaman film, she can also use the cluster of wine bottles to her advantage against her opponents.

Outside the battlefield, she can form the shape of water, which she uses for the surface dwellers’ kids in putting on a show of dolphins jumping in the fountains to entertain them.

Canonically, her manipulation of water goes beyond wielding them, since in the comics, she can also drain the person of their bodily fluids, which would render them immobile for the time being.

Apart from her unique superpower, her bloodline of being pure Atlantean and as a Xebel princess granted her the common physiology of the people under the sea.

This also includes heightened senses such that she can see through pitch black in the deepest waters, enhanced hearing, superhuman durability, reflexes, and stamina, not to mention, one of her strongest qualities: her intelligence in forming strategies in her fights.

The only thing that could hinder her from reaching her full potential is none other than exposure to Lead materials.

Another thing that robs Aquaman from beating Mera is her intelligence above his, especially since he was barely exposed to Atlantis City up until he grew up old enough to take back the throne in his mother’s honor.

If we’re talking about their common weakness, it’s the lack of water in their surroundings where they harness their abilities.

However, since Aquaman’s powers rely more on his physical build, and the advantage of being a half-bred Atlantean, he has more leverage in winning against Princess Mera with a bit more training.

He’s bulletproof, he has strength above the average human and Atlantean people, can wield his powers both in dry land and in the depths of water, and most important of all — he can talk and manipulate marine animals to do his bidding.

Now that he’s claimed the Trident of Neptune, there’s no stopping him now.

Not only does it allow him to control water, too, but the harpoon also lets him have the attention and trust of the people in Atlantis City, hailing him as ruler of the seven seas, which Mera would find a hard time fighting against.
