Amber Heard reprised the role of Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Unlike the first film, she had a reduced screen time in this case as Patrick Wilson's Orm became the co-lead of the sequel.

The actress was also notably absent during the entire press tour and she appeared in a couple of brief shots in the trailers that were released, which already hinted back then at her reduced presence in the movie.

A lot of fans have presumed that the actress' controversies in the last few years led to her reduced screen time, but director James Wan insisted that it had nothing to do with it and the story just happens to have a more focus on Arthur Curry and Orm's brother relationship.

Now, for the first time since the film's release, the actress is finally acknowledging her appearance in the sequel.

In her recent post on Instagram, Amber Heard finally addressed her return as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom for the first time since its release last holiday season.

She thanked the fans for the love and support that she received from reprising her character in the sequel. She accompanied it with behind-the-scenes photos including when she was feeding milk to the baby who played Arthur Jr.

"After all this time, Aquaman 2 made its splash (sorry, it’s too easy) Thank you to all of my fans for the overwhelming support and love in Mera’s AQ return. Thank you so much," she wrote in her caption.

This is the first time that Heard publicly acknowledged her involvement in the sequel in this capacity as she was mum about the project on her social media feed during the film's promotional campaign.

Fans who watched the movie in theaters noticed that Heard didn't have a lot of dialogue and her character wasn't impactful to the story despite being the titular hero's wife and mother to his son.

A report from Business Insider clocked Heard's screen time at around 15-20 minutes and had a total of 11 spoken lines from beginning to end alongside a couple of grunts, laughs, and screams.

The actress is not expected to reprise the role in the DCU since Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was marked as the final DCEU movie and the majority of the characters in the previous incarnate are slated to be recast in the reboot.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is still showing in theaters worldwide.
