Meghan Markle Will Skip Next Year’s Oscars
New Idea, in its Dec. 13 issue, claimed that Meghan Markle was dying to attend the Oscars next year because it’s the perfect opportunity for her to rub elbows with other A-listers. However, she was forced to cancel her plans after learning that Kristen Stewart is in the running to receive a major award.
Stewart recently portrayed the role of Princess Diana in the movie Spencer, which chronicles the late royal’s life. The movie is considered non-fiction, but an unnamed source claimed that Prince Harry and Markle are still upset with Stewart because of her portrayal of the Princess of Wales.
“It would certainly blow a hole through Meghan’s hopes of attending the Academy Awards next year if they have to sit through any sizzle reels of Kristen as Diana. Some scenes in the film are quite graphic and Harry won’t be pleased with the depiction of his mother. The couple has been considered lobbying the academy to ignore the film, which they never do,” an unnamed source said.

As of late, there’s still no announcement regarding the official nominees at next year’s Oscars. But it is true that Stewart made a buzz for her portrayal of Princess Diana.

During an interview on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast, Stewart admitted that she couldn’t care less about getting an award.
“The Oscars are such a funny thing. There are so many incredible movies and performances that barely get seen. It definitely says something about where we’re at as a cumulative presence — what we’re looking at, what we care about. I really appreciate that something that I was involved in, has ignited such a large conversation. We don’t make movies to not connect with each other,” Stewart said.
Princess Diana’s former protection officer, Kevin Wharfe lauded Stewart and said that her portrayal of Prince William and Prince Harry’s late mother is the closest among all those that gave life to her.
Wharfe also pointed out that Stewart perfected Princess Diana’s mannerisms.
Despite all the praises that the Twilight star received, the award-giving body has not yet released its official list of nominees.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Skipped Last Year’s Oscars
Last year, royal correspondent Emily Nash told Hello! magazine that Prince Harry and Markle were invited to the Oscars but they politely declined the invitation. If the couple accepted the invitation, they would’ve presented the Best Picture award.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s refusal to attend the Oscars show that they are not fame-hungry after all. And even though there’s a possibility that they would once again get an invite, it’s equally possible for Prince Harry and Markle to turn it down again.
