Meghan Markle has been making headlines in the last weeks because of the bullying allegations that were directed at her last year. The complaint alleged that the Duchess of Sussex bullied some palace staffers into quitting their jobs. Markle vehemently denied the allegations by saying that it was merely an attack on her character. But the royal family vowed to investigate the matter accordingly.

Meghan Markle’s Bullying Investigation Officially Complete

Two weeks ago, reports revealed that the results of the investigation wouldn’t be released to the public. And now, senior palace aide Sir Michael Stevens, Keeper of the Privy Purse, confirmed that the inquiry has officially been completed.

And just like the previous reports, the details of the investigation wouldn’t be made public. But Stevens mentioned some of the policies and regulations that will be put in place within the royal household to prevent new bullying allegations.

“This work was undertaken privately and had no [taxpayers'] Sovereign Grant money spent on it. I can confirm, though, that this was a review of the handling of the allegations aimed at enabling the royal households to consider potential improvements to HR policies and procedures. The review has been completed and recommendations on our policies and procedures have been taken forward but we will not be commenting further,” Stevens said (via People).

Meghan Markle's Bullying Investigation Paved The Way To Protect Palace Staffers Against Bullying

The publication revealed that an independent law firm conducted the investigation. And current and former palace staffers participated in the review.

Some of the recommendations include encouraging staff members to act as whistleblowers if they have complaints or see inappropriate practices or actions. A concern at work policy will also allow staffers to express their concerns to other people within the royal household.

“It is not limiting in any way whatsoever — there is a procedure for how you would raise a concern,” a royal insider said.

Queen Elizabeth Kept Meghan Markle’s Bullying Probe Private To Protect Her, Palace Staffers

Last week, royal author Katie Nicholl dropped a bombshell saying that the results of the investigation will stay private because Queen Elizabeth wants to protect the British monarchy and all those involved.

“Everything that I’m hearing at the moment out of the palace is that the Queen doesn’t want any more drama. She just doesn’t want any more dirty linens aired in public. By taking it in-house, which is essentially what the Queen has done, she is trying to limit any further damage, any further damage to the monarchy, potentially any further damage to those members of staff who have made those allegations, and also, possibly to the Duchess of Sussex, who denied those allegations,” Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight.

Nicholl also said that the Queen wanted to protect the anonymity of those that complained about Markle. And the monarch doesn’t also want the Duchess of Sussex to see what was said about her because it might be hurtful.

“And there is some speculation that this would not have been particularly pleasant reading for the Duchess of Sussex, and possibly she's being protected in all of this as well. But I think this really is just a case of keeping a really very inflammatory story under the radar, not allowing any of it to be made public and what I suppose, the method in all of this, is to try and preserve the integrity of those staff, of the Duchess of Sussex and indeed of the reputation of the monarchy,” Nicholl said.

However, a spokesperson for Markle denied the allegations and dubbed them a calculated smear campaign.

The Duchess of Sussex’s lawyer, Jenny Afia, also slammed the reports that she’s difficult to work with.

“This narrative that no one could work for the Duchess of Sussex, that she was too difficult or demanding a boss, and that everyone had to leave, is just not true,” she said.
