Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's Celebrity Status Will Affect Samantha Markle's Lawsuit?
Samantha is suing her half-sister for the alleged lies she shared in her and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. Legal expert Shawn Breywer, owner of The Hive Law, weighed in on the legal battle Samantha brought against the Duchess of Sussex.
"Public opinion and the celebrity status of the parties involved can often influence the outcome of a trial," Breyer told Express.
The legal expert added that the Sussexes' celebrity status could attract more attention from the media and create more pressure on the judge who will handle the case and the jury who will deliver the verdict.
Meghan Markle's Lawyer Believes Samantha's Case Should Be Rejected
Markle's lawyer, Michael J. Kump, argued that Samantha's case had no merit. In his filing, the attorney said the feelings about their childhood are "more personal and subjective" after Samantha alleged that Markle's claim she grew up in virtual poverty was a lie.
Kump also alleged that Samantha "completely ignored" the context in which Markle discussed she grew up as an only child.
"The lawsuit was filed by Samantha claiming among other things that Meghan caused emotional distress to their father through acts of conspiracy and negligence," he explained.
