Meghan Markle changed something in the monarchy when she married Prince Harry and joined the firm. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly changed something in the firm's dynamics that made her come across as "difficult."

Royal author Robert Lacey weighed in on the changes that Prince Harry's wife brought into his family after their marriage. In his book, Battle of Brothers, the scribe said Markle's introduction to the firm changed its dynamic, and she came across as "difficult."

"What you’ve got to realize is that the whole strategy of the monarchy was based on them sticking together," Lacey wrote, Mirror reported. " Meghan changed all that. She is difficult. She has an incredible and dangerous level of self-belief."

He added that the palace historically treated second-born children badly.

"They just don't know what to do with the spare and they certainly don't know what to do with the spare's wife."

The former Suits star is interested in mental health, women's rights, animal welfare, and bringing communities together, which are what the royal family promotes. So, many are surprised that she didn't last long in the firm.

Some royal experts speculated that Markle didn't survive the firm due to her limited understanding of how royal life works. Also, they felt that another factor was her unwillingness to change her approach.

British journalist and investigative reporter Tom Bower claimed in his book Revenge that Markle refused to "learn the ropes" of royal life, which contributed to their decision to step back from their royal duties.

How Did Meghan Markle's Approach Affect Prince William And Kate Middleton?

Bower claimed that Prince Harry's brother, Prince William, had grown increasingly frustrated with Markle's approach to royal duties. Prince Harry's wife hit the ground running, and unlike the other members of the royal family, she couldn't keep her opinions to herself.

It was evident in her previous interviews after they left the royal family, which some found contrasting. She told Oprah Winfrey that she was silenced while in the palace. However, in her interview with The Cut, she also said they have not been filtered along the way.

"It's interesting, I've never had to sign anything that restricts me from talking," she said, People reported. "I can talk about my whole experience and make a choice not to."

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton reportedly disapproved of Markle's approach because she acted like an individual and not a group member of the firm.

"Kate had become irritated by her neighbour. Unlike her own cautious approach to 'learn the ropes' before engaging in royal duties, Meghan was running — but what was her destination? And who was she running with? Did she realize that the Royal Family ran together under the monarch, not as competitive individuals?" Bower wrote.
