Before Meghan Markle became the Duchess of Sussex upon marrying Prince Harry in 2018, she was famously known as a Hollywood actress. But did you know that she has a degree and was even dubbed the “most intelligent British royal?”

Meghan Markle’s Education
At two years old, the 41-year-old started her private education at Hollywood Little Red Schoolhouse.
At 11, she ran a campaign to get a company to change a TV commercial she saw as sexist on Nick News, and she succeeded.

She then went to Immaculate Heart High School in Los Feliz, Los Angeles. From there, she attended Northwestern University in Illinois, starting in 1999, and took up drama studies, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Theatre and International Studies.
At the time, she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and her former professors described her as an engaged student with a passion for theater.
A Semester in Spain and Internship
After her junior year at Northwestern, she started her internship at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires.
She then went to Spain for a three-month program offered by the Institute for the International Education of Students Abroad.
She practiced her Spanish in Madrid and was immersed in the capital city's culture, cuisine, and history.

The former Suits star took five courses, mainly taught in Spanish, making her fluent.
When Meghan returned to Northwestern, she took classes on African-American playwrights.
The Most Intelligent British Royal
In a study released by Oxford Royale release in 2021, Prince Harry’s wife emerged as the “most intelligent member of the British royal family.
The company analyzed the academic credentials of the blue-blooded family members and looked at their high school results and college rankings. It then used the QS World University Rankings, which rates colleges based on their academic reputation and faculty-to-student ratio.
Meghan took the top spot as she graduated from the elite Northwestern University.

“Life as a royal isn’t always an easy job and involves a lot of dealing with extensive scrutiny and life in the public spotlight, and Meghan Markle’s academic strengths have equipped her perfectly for this role,” an Oxford Royal spokesperson said about the findings. “While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have resigned from their roles as working royals, they have captured the interest and attention of the world, and Meghan’s desire to use her platform to raise awareness over serious world issues reflects her intelligence, analytical mind, and educational pedigree.”
