MBC Announces New Girl Group Audition Program + Girls' Generation Yuri, (G)I-DLE Jeon Soyeon, HOOK Leader Aiki, Ock Joo Hyun As Mentors


After the successful conclusion of the Mnet survival program Girls Planet 999, MBC seems to have plans to create a girl group to dominate the Billboard charts. MBC has just announced its new girl group audition program, My Teenage Girl.

The network also revealed the renowned personalities that will help the contestants throughout their journey to debuting in a girl group.

Girls’ Generation Yuri, (G)I-DLE Jeon Soyeon, HOOK Aiki, Ock Joo Hyun As Mentors For MBC New Girl Group Audition Program

MBC unveiled the professional “teachers” who will aid the contestants in debuting as one of this generation’s top girl groups in the newest audition-reality program, My Teenage Girl. Girls’ Generation Yuri, (G)I-DLE Jeon Soyeon, HOOK Aiki, and Ock Joo Hyun are confirmed to appear on the show as mentors.

In particular, these artists will transform into homeroom teachers for a total of 83 trainees. The contestants will be divided into four levels, just like how a regular high school has. Eighteen trainees will be in first grade, 23 in the second grade, 20 in third grade, and 22 under the fourth grade.

Yuri, Soyeon, Aiki, and Joo Hyun will support and aid the trainees to prove their potential as girl group members. Their musical capabilities, such as vocals and dancing, will be further developed throughout their journey.

Introducing The Teachers For MBC New Girl Group Audition Program My Teenage Girl

Noteworthy, the lineup for the teachers is already recognized for their outstanding skills in each field.

Ock Joo Hyun has been nicknamed Korea’s Top Diva as she actively presented an unrivaled aura since her debut with the first generation girl group Fin.K.L in 1998. In addition, Joo Hyun has appeared in several musicals such as Sweeney Todd, Rebecca, Cats, and Wicked. Her participation as a mentor will be strong support for the trainees with her accurate feedbacks, which will focus on their vocals.

Kwon Yuri is already in her 15th year as an artist. In particular, the singer made her debut with the all-time legendary girl group Girls’ Generation in 2008. With a stable fan base in South Korea and internationally, Girls’ Generation has proved its impeccable presence in various fields with a stable fan base in South Korea and the other parts of the world.

Other than being girl group members, the members of Girls' Generation also have careers as actresses, hosts, and endorsers of prestigious local and international brands. Yuri will lend her expertise as a celebrity and will aid the trainees both in singing and dancing.

Finally, world-renowned dancer Aiki of HOOK has captivated the global audience through the Mnet dance program Street Woman Fighter. She will join MBC’s My Teenage Girl as a strict dance teacher who will give trainees straightforward evaluation and comfort throughout the program.

My Teenage Girl trainees have already started being introduced to the audience ever since their song “Same Same Different” on Music Core. The new girl group audition program My Teenage Girl will premiere on MBC on November 28, 2021.
