Jennifer Aniston Confronted Matthew Perry About His Addiction
However, Matthew Perry also gave Jennifer Aniston special credit for being the one who checked up on him the most. Perry also revealed that Aniston once confronted him and told him that she was aware that he had been drinking.
“We know you’re drinking,” Aniston told Perry (via Fox News).
“Imagine how scary that moment was… She was the one that reached out the most… I’m really grateful to her for that,” he told Sawyer.
In his memoir, Perry also detailed how Aniston once again confronted her due to his substance abuse. Years ago, they were in his trailer when Aniston told him that she could smell what he was doing.
“‘We can smell it,’ she said, in a kind of weird but loving way, and the plural ‘we’ hit me like a sledgehammer. ‘I know I’m drinking too much,’ I said, ‘but I don’t exactly know what to do about it,’” Perry wrote (via CNN).

Matthew Perry Used To Take 55 Vicodin Daily
However, being called out by Aniston did not stop Perry from drinking and taking drugs. At one point, the addiction became so bad that he was taking 55 Vicodin daily on top of the other drugs that he was also consuming.
“By the end of season three, I was spending most of my time figuring out how to get 55 Vicodin a day – I had to have 55 every day, otherwise I’d get so sick. It was a full-time job: making calls, seeing doctors, faking migraines, finding crooked nurses who would give me what I needed,” he wrote in his memoir.
Perry’s addiction also left him feeling alone and isolated.
“At the time I should have been the toast of the town. I was in a dark room meeting nothing but drug dealers and completely alone,” he said.
Matthew Perry’s Addiction Triggered His Weight Loss And Weight Gain
The actor also revealed that it was his addiction to drugs and alcohol that caused him to gain and lose weight a lot.
“You can track the trajectory of my addiction if you gauge my weight from season to season – when I’m carrying weight, it’s alcohol; when I’m skinny, it’s pills. When I have a goatee, it’s lots of pills,” he said.
As of writing, Perry is in a much better state in his life, that’s why he wanted to share his struggles so that those who might need help could somehow get it from him.
