Queen Consort Camilla received her new royal title following Queen Elizabeth's death on Sept. 8. Prior to the unfortunate event, King Charles' wife was known as the Duchess of Cornwall.

Even though Queen Consort Camilla was technically the Princess of Wales before the queen's death, she never used the royal title as a sign of respect for Princess Diana.

Queen Consort Camilla May Be Styled As Queen Camilla After King Charles' Coronation

According to The Telegraph, Queen Consort Camilla's royal title could further change during King Charles' coronation on May 6, 2023. At the time, the mom of two will also have a smaller ceremony of her own.

The publication claimed that the word "consort" may be removed from Camilla's royal title. But the decision will depend on how popular King Charles' wife will be at the time of the coronation.

If royal fans would request for Camilla to be styled only as queen, then royal aides could formally seek to change her royal title. If this pushes through, King Charles' wife will be known as Queen Camilla instead of Queen Consort Camilla.

Queen Consort Camilla Doesn't Have Any Ruling Power

According to Mirror UK, Camilla wouldn't also be the first queen consort to be known only as queen. The same title was given to Queen Elizabeth's mom, the Queen Mother, as well as Queen Alexandra.

Metro UK revealed that the title of consort refers simply to the spouse of a ruling monarch. For now, King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla are reportedly feeling very relaxed with the press and the members of the public removing "consort" from her royal title.

But consort will be listed as part of Camilla's royal title in official palace communications.

Queen Consort Camilla Has Been Supporting King Charles For Years

As queen consort, Camilla doesn't have any ruling power. Her main job is to support her husband, who is the current monarch. But even before King Charles became the new monarch, Queen Consort Camilla already had his back.

"She is a huge support for Charles," a source told People.

The insider added that King Charles is known for having "Eeyore moments," or moments when he appears somber and serious. But his wife is always there to jolly him up.

But even though more and more people have become accepting of Queen Consort Camilla, there are still some royal fans who seemingly dislike her.

"There will always be some backlash, but you can't please everybody all the time. There will be people from certain constituencies who might complain," the source said.
