Marvel Will Use Most Of James Gunn’s Script For Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Disney might have decided to stand by its decision to fire Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn over offensive and inappropriate tweets made fourteen years in the past, but it looks like the Mickey Mouse House and Marvel Studios are still going to use a majority of the filmmaker's script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

According to a recent report from Variety, word has it that Marvel will be keeping Gunn's script for the third and final installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. However, the studio will also allow the new director they hire for the project to "put a polish on it," letting the filmmaker add their own voice to the film.

This might seem odd considering that Disney's been trying to establish its stance on the controversy surrounding its decision to fire Gunn, but Marvel probably wouldn't want to bring an entirely new script to the project. After all, the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has always been Gunn's baby, and the filmmaker has directed both Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Marvel would want to have Gunn's script to keep the continuity of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies despite the fact that the studio won't be bringing the director back.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn't have a release date yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
