The Russo Brothers Say Wakanda Is “Essential” In Dealing With Avengers: Infinity War’s Aftermath

Marvel fans fell in love with Wakanda the moment they laid eyes on the hidden city in Black Panther. Now, after becoming one of the very central locations in the fight against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, it looks like the city will play an important role in the aftermath of the Mad Titan's finger-snapping massacre in the film.

Speaking with Wired as part of Marvel's celebration of Infinity War's Blu-Ray release earlier this week, directors Joe and Anthony described the different heroes that appeared in Marvel's crossover movie. But that's not all. When the filmmakers got to Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), the directorial duo decided to tease the role Wakanda was going to play after Infinity War.

"Black Panther has tremendous potential as a character in the Marvel Universe, and I think Wakanda is essential to whatever may happen post-Avengers: Infinity War... how the world may deal with what is happening to them... The technology that Wakanda has at its disposal is valuable in repairing the world moving forward," Joe explained during the interview.

Based on the filmmaker's comment, it seems like Wakanda would be pivotal in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which comes as no surprise considering the success of Black Panther. T'Challa's standalone movie not only made waves at the box office, it also received a shower of praise from fans and critics. Now, the only question is, how large of a role will Wakanda be playing in Avengers 4?

Let's wait and see.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently available on Digital HD and Blu-Ray.
