Marvel's What If..? continues to break trends and the whole typical way of telling stories through alternate realities reintroducing events we already know. For Episode 7, it will be all about "Party Thor," one of the most anticipated in the canon series, and according to the show's head writer, it is going to be an "easter egg heaven," seemingly hinting fans to keep an open eye for these clues.
The title of the upcoming episode would be "What If.. Thor was an Only Child?" and the short clip shows a departure from the drama that the previous episodes had with such a light one coming through. The Prince of Asgard, Thor, will be an only child in this episode where Loki never became his adoptive brother. Does this mean Asgard remained at war with Jotunheim?
The head writer of the show, A.C. Bradley, had a talk with EW, and he hyped up the upcoming episode saying that nothing but the fun is offered by it, "The story took root from a love of '80s and '90s rom-coms and party films. After so many serious episodes, what's the most fun we could possibly have?"
He also shared, "Let Thor throw a party... some of the stuff has already been a little bit leaked because of merchandising, there's like shirts that say 'Party Thor!' so it lets you know a certain degree of the attitude behind this episode."
It is true. The previous runs of Marvel's What If..? always had a tug in the heart, whether various heroes were killed off or a defeat engulfs the atmosphere, Uatu's recent stories were, more or less, dramatic and painful to watch. However, for Episode 7, it would be more of an enjoyment and full of fun.
He revealed in the same interview, "It should be Easter egg heaven. I hope people have fun with the one this week because it's not as bombastic world-ending as other episodes. The mandate for me when I was writing it was, I just want to have fun, I just want to be silly. It's a lot sillier than anything you'd see in the MCU. It should be an episode to watch with a beer."
Remember fat Thor playing video games with beer? Probably, that should be your mood when watching this episode, just fun and an open eye for possible easter eggs. Also, with Thor being established to provide some comic relief as well, this would be a perfect avenue for him to bring in his jokes and all the laughs he could possibly generate from everyone around him.
