Marvel Studios might be busy working on the last few Phase 3 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but that doesn't mean the studio isn't preparing for Phase 4 of the franchise. With Phase 3 coming to a close next year, it looks like Marvel is getting ready to begin production on The Eternals later next year.
Marvel has been keeping mum about their plans for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it came as a surprise when the studio announced that it was planning to develop The Eternals movie. Kevin Feige confirmed the studios plans to work on The Eternals earlier this year, stirring and sparking excitement in the Marvel fanbase.
Now, according to a new report by That Hashtag Show, sources say that Marvel is currently targeting a September 2019 production start date for the project. While this might be a tentative schedule for The Eternals, this new update proves that Marvel is beginning to work on Phase 4 of the MCU. Of course, The Eternals still has a lot of work to go through before principal photography begins, however, while it might take some time for Marvel to prepare the film's pre-prod, the 2019 window is the studio's target for the project's actual production.
Those who aren't familiar with the characters, The Eternals is a fictional race of humanity described as an offshoot of the evolutionary process that created life on Earth. The alien Celestials were the original instigators of this process and the race designed the Eternals to be the first defenders of the Earth.
The Eternals has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
