Marvel Studios Reportedly Planning to Do More Special Presentations

This Friday, Werewolf by Night, the MCU's first attempt in the "special presentation" format, is set to make its much-awaited premiere on Disney+. Unlike the TV shows, this special is only intended to be a one-off with a runtime that is slightly higher than a typical Disney+ series and shorter than the theatrical films.

Now, according to a recent report from The Cosmic Circus, Marvel Studios is planning to do more special presentations that are not necessarily tied to any holidays like Werewolf by Night with Halloween and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special with Christmas. This format will aim to tell more stories in the MCU without spreading into multiple episodes like their shows.

In addition, the report also indicated that they heard that Marvel Studios is planning to turn some of their TV shows that are in early development into a special presentation format instead. It is unknown yet which titles are the candidates for the potential change.

We do have to take note that this information has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios so we still have to take it with a grain of salt for now. However, considering that the MCU is starting to look like they're embracing the special presentation format, it is not surprising to hear that they're making such moves.

It could also be their response to some of the criticisms that they have received in some of their shows as some of them were deemed to be "spreading too thin" in terms of their storytelling as a result of their commitment to doing multiple episodes. It is also likely that their positive experience with Werewolf by Night led them to explore that plan.

Let's just wait and see whether Marvel Studios indeed has official plans to do more special presentations. If fans will end up loving their two upcoming specials, they might also end up like the potential future plan.
