Oscar-nominated actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has long been rumored to have joined the MCU playing the role of Mephisto starting with the upcoming series Ironheart and potentially more projects down the line.

Marvel Studios has not officially announced the actor's casting yet in the MCU, but reports from the trades and online scoopers have insisted that he was spotted on the set and shot scenes for the series.

A lot of fans have been enthusiastic about the idea of Baron Cohen joining the MCU since he is a talented actor and comedian. There has also been a lot of interest to see Mephisto be part of the MCU ever since he was rumored to appear in WandaVision.

Now, it looks like we finally have the confirmation regarding the Oscar nominee's MCU debut thanks to a recent copyright filing.

As reported by The Direct, a recent official copyright filing from Marvel Studios has Baron Cohen listed as part of the main cast of Ironheart, confirming the long-standing rumor surrounding his involvement in the MCU.

However, his character is listed in the filing as "Mystery Man" which could mean that Marvel Studios is currently keeping the true identity of the role that he is playing in the series.

This is an exciting update regarding the comedian's potential MCU debut since this is pretty much the confirmation that we've been waiting for a long time and we can officially expect his appearance once the series premieres.

If Baron Cohen does end up playing Mephisto, it is interesting to see how he'll play well in the story of the series since he is a supernatural character although he could disguise himself as a human when we initially see him before revealing his true devilish form.

Given that Ironheart is more of a technological-based superhero, it sounds odd that someone like Mephisto could be the antagonist of the series although it may also add an interesting hero-villain dynamic that is unusual in this type of story.

For now, let's wait and see for more updates regarding the series and it might take a while before we'll hear more official word since it was recently taken off from the release calendar despite already finishing its production.

Marvel Studios and Disney+ have not set a new release window yet for Ironheart.
