The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow with the addition of Ironheart!

Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, previously announced that Ironheart will now have her very own Marvel live-action series. The new MCU superhero will be played by Dominique Thorne as the franchise's Iron Man replacement, and will hopefully hit our screens sometime soon. Here is everything we know so far about the new Marvel series.

Riri Williams goes to MIT

Dominique Thorne (If Beale Street Could Talk, Judas and the Black Messiah) first made her appearance as Riri Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Despite having small moments in the MCU, this undoubtedly marked her future of having her own series become a part of the larger saga in the franchise.

During the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige announced a narrowed release date for Ironheart, which was set to start streaming by Summer or Fall 2023.

If we consider the U.S. copyright filing as the primary source for now, we can expect Ironheart to air on September 3, 2025.

Given that Marvel is leading towards a different strategy, it would seem that Ironheart is not yet a priority to release on Disney Plus. Should Ironheart grace the small screens someday, we'd be lucky if it actually releases within 2024-2025.

Ironheart Filming Wrapped Up in 2022

Ironheart finished filming by early November 2022. Most, if not all, of the principal photography for the series was held at the Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, which you can check out below:

Dominique Thorne will play the lead role in the new Marvel and Disney+ series. Thorne plays Riri Williams, a 15-year-old tech genius who builds her own version of the Iron Man suit.

Lyric Ross, who plays Deja Pearson in the NBC hit drama series This is Us, is set to play Natalie, Riri’s best friend. The other confirmed cast members are Manny Montana from Good Girls and the young Harper Anthony.

Shea Couleé joins Ironheart

Shea Couleé from Ru Paul's Drag Race joins the series in a secret role. Couleé won Ru Pauls All Stars 5 while placing in All Stars 7 and Drag Race 9.

Anthony Ramos is The Hood

Now that Ironheart is filming, we have seen set photos all around, and one of the photos released showed Anthony Ramos. From the looks of it, he will be playing the Marvel villain, The Hood. The Hood is a New York criminal who eventually formed his own syndicate.

Anthony Ramos first broke into the scene when he landed dual roles as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the musical Hamilton.

Zoe Terakes

Zoe Terakes from Nine Perfect Strangers and Wentworth joins the cast of Ironheart. She will be the second LGBTQ+ member to join the cast of Ironheart, following Shea Couleé. We still do not know who Terakes will be playing.

Regan Aliyah

The next actor to join the cast of Ironheart is Regan Aliyah. There is still no information on which character Aliyah will be playing in the show.

She also recently appeared in the romantic comedy created by Jenny Han (author of the To All the Boys book series) for Netflix called XO, Kitty, as Juliana, the secret girlfriend of Yuri.

Agatha Harkness Rumors

Another casting rumor making the rounds within Marvel fan communities is Agatha Harkness' appearance in Ironheart. Direct recently reported about a fan page that claimed Kathryn Hahn's Agatha would be a part of the cast.

We first met the character of Agatha Harkness in Wandavision, where she proved to be a formidable foe for the Scarlet Witch.

Eventually, we'll be seeing Agatha return in her titular series, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.

Alden Ehrenreich

Another actor who joined the cast of Ironheart is Alden Ehrenreich (who recently appeared in Oppenheimer and is most known for Solo: A Star Wars Story). He is rumored to play Ezekiel 'Zeke' Stane, aka the son of Obadiah Stane / Iron Monger.

Shakira Barrera Joins the Cast

On September 7, 2022, Deadline reported that Shakira Barrera joined the cast of Ironheart. We still do not know who she will be playing and MCU representatives have stayed quiet about the casting news.

Barrera is most known for her work in Glow.

Sacha Baron Cohen Surprisingly Debuts Early

Initially speculated to play the key role of Mephisto in Agatha: Darkhold Diaires, it looks like we'll be seeing Sacha Baron Cohen make his MCU debut earlier than we thought.

It remains to be seen whether this is official or not, but it wouldn't be far off since his 'unknown role' was written as 'Mystery Man', seemingly confirming playing as a villain.

Ironheart

The basic premise of Marvel’s Ironheart revolves around the story of the young, intelligent Riri Williams. Riri is a Black girl inventor with a knack for creating different techy things.

She is so good, in fact, so good that she was able to make her very own version of the Iron Man suit.

If the series follows the original storyline of the comic book, Riri Williams is a 15-year-old from Chicago who earned an engineering scholarship at MIT.

Upon entering the school, she soon finds a way to sneak out materials to create her own Iron Man suit.

Because of this, she catches Tony Stark’s eye, and he turns his attention to her to recruit her for his cause.

Tony Stark also becomes Riri’s mentor as he teaches her how to build an improved version of her first suit.

Riri also creates her own J.A.R.V.I.S, which she calls N.A.T.A.L.I.E., after her childhood best friend who was killed during a drive-by shooting. Riri supported Tony during the Second Civil War and took some of his responsibilities when he was injured.

However, once Tony recovered, Riri became a part of the next generation of Marvel superheroes called the Champions.

While Marvel Studios has yet to release the official synopsis for Ironheart, the U.S. Public Copyright Records revealed the description for the series, which you can read out below:

Marvel Studios presents Ironheart, in which charming teenage super genius Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) returns from MIT to her hometown of Chicago in her iron suit and begins to unravel threads that bring danger and adventure right to her doorstep. The adventure begins in 1-1 as Riri is introduced to the audience.
