Last year, the second season of Loki finally premiered on Disney+ and the responses have been mostly positive from both the critics and fans, unlike the reception to some of the previous MCU releases which have been divisive.

Unlike the first season's midnight premiere, the second season debuted on Thursday night which is reminiscent of traditional TV viewing and most of the audience will be able to keep up with the new episode on time.

Now that we're days away from the new season's premiere, some people are wondering how its viewership fare well on its return, especially since it's been two years since the first season aired and its premiere time was also different this time around.

Fortunately, it looks like the God of Mischief had a glorious return based on the initial numbers.

According to Deadline, the second season of Loki on Disney+ last Thursday night nabbed a viewership of 10.9 million global views in its first three days.

It became the second most-watched season premiere this year on the streamer following the premiere of the third season of The Mandalorian last March which drew 823 million viewing minutes in its first week according to Nielsen.

In comparison, Ahsoka's premiere last August nabbed 14 million global viewers although that was for a five-day window.

This is a huge win for the MCU series since it showed that a lot of the Disney+ subscribers were able to immediately catch up with the new season as soon as it became available.

It helps that it is the second season of a beloved ongoing series which is why it didn't have a difficult time getting high viewership records when it returned. The new season is also expected to be a pivotal chapter in the Multiverse Saga so there is an urgency for fans to watch it.

It is interesting to see whether the high viewership numbers will remain for the rest of the season and it will always depend on the quality of the following episodes as long as it won't turn off the general audience.

Nevertheless, it is worth celebrating for the people involved in the series since it is a promising start and it ends the franchise slump on the television side which has been struggling in its previous releases.

New episodes of the second season of Loki premiere every Thursday night on Disney+.
