Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has grown increasingly frustrated with his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the ever-so-outspoken actor hasn't been shy letting everyone know about it on social media. For the longest time, Drax the Destroyer has always been seen by many as comic relief despite his imposing size and stature and according to the former WWE superstar, Marvel Studios has continuously wasted the character's potential.

Big Dave is particularly not the biggest fan of Marvel's decision not to explore Drax and Thanos' rich history which according to him gets "swept under the rug" every single time. Just recently, the star of Netflix's Army of the Dead revealed on Twitter that he wasn't asked by Marvel Studios to reprise his role in What If...? which is a bit shocking considering a who's who of MCU actors reprised their roles in the animated series.

Now, Marvel Studios' Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum is sounding off on Bautista's claims. In an interview with Variety, the producer insisted that the studio approached every MCU actor featured in the show to reprise their respective Marvel roles and that includes Dave himself. He said: "I saw that, too... It's my understanding that everybody was asked in some way, shape or form, either through their agents or directly. I don't know really what happened behind the scenes there, but certainly, we would have loved for him to be in the show. So there's probably some miscommunication somewhere."

It's a complete shame that Bautista didn't end up voicing his Drax role in What If...? especially considering the Guardians of the Galaxy-centric episode features the final Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance of the late Chadwick Boseman. I guess there has truly been a miscommunication between the two parties but if we're being honest, it's not like Marvel has huge plans for Drax anyway.

Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit cinemas in May 2023.
