Marvel Fans Jokingly Demand a Morbius Sequel

Morbius was not received well when it was released in early April as it received low critics score and underwhelming box office as it wasn't on par with the other films in the franchise. Now that the film is available digitally, it has experienced some sort of resurgence although for a different reason as it has become a subject of online memes.

If you scroll on Twitter right now, chances are you might encounter memes and jokes about the recent Sony/Marvel film with some fans even "suggesting" ideas for a potential sequel of the film and even coming up with the phrase "It's morbin' time" as the character's phrase in the future film.

Here are some of the tweets from fans who are "demanding" and coming up with creative "suggestions" for the Morbius sequel:

However, as a result of Morbius being a butt of a joke by fans, "Morbius 2" trended on Twitter according to Screen Rant. It also prompted outlets like AV Club and Forbes to clarify that the film is NOT confirmed to be getting any sequel and is unlikely to even have one at all due to the underwhelming performance during its release.

So far, Sony has not made any official comments yet about the development of a Morbius sequel or any plans at all about the character's appearance in future films. Based on the box office performance, there's even a chance that Jared Leto's vampire turn won't ever show up again despite what the post-credits scene suggested. Of course, we still don't know the official answer and all we know is that Sony is committed to growing its Spider-Man Universe franchise.

It looks like Morbius will continue to be a subject of memes and jokes online for months or years to come based on what we've seen so far. While it didn't do very well critically, it will still be remembered for its online discussions even though that is not the ideal response that Sony and the filmmakers might have wanted.
