A while ago, we learned that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is undergoing reshoots to film additional scenes that they weren't able to shoot during principal photography or reshoot some of the scenes. While some fans are concerned about the news, reshoots have actually been a norm in a lot of MCU productions so it's not really an unusual situation. Now, we have an exciting update regarding the progress of the film's reshoots.
Speaking with Variety, Marvel Studios President of Physical, Post Production, VFX and Animation Victoria Alonso was asked about the latest update regarding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' current reshoots. She said that it is still currently ongoing, but they are "almost done." She also teased that "there is so much to come" next year which hints that we will be hearing more MCU news soon. You can watch the interview clip here:
It is great to hear that the reshoots are almost done and it does indicate significant progress for the film as they are also undergoing post-production at the moment. It shouldn't be alarming for fans who are concerned about the reshoots since most MCU productions have also undergone reshoots and some of the great MCU scenes like Tony Stark's "I Am Iron Man" scene in Avengers: Endgame actually came from reshoots.
A lot of fans are excited for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as it is expected to venture into the multiverse (hence the title) and it is expected to have huge ramifications in the entire MCU. There are rumors that we might see a teaser trailer of the film during the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home which will be released in North American theaters tomorrow.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released in theaters on May 6, 2022.
