Mark Ruffalo's Rumored Solo Hulk Movie Receives Promising Update

Mark Ruffalo’s own solo Hulk movie has long been rumored to be in development at Marvel Studios, with little to no updates on whether or not this serves to be true. However, a new report revealed that Disney potentially selling Hulu could eventually lead to Ruffalo’s long overdue Hulk solo film!

Wall Street analyst Jason Bazinet (via The Wrap) suggested that Disney is currently in the process of acquiring film rights to the Incredible Hulk and Namor. Securing the rights of these two characters is being looked into as part of a potential sale of its 67% stake in Hulu.

As of writing, Comcast, who also owns NBC Universal (the right holders to Hulk and Namor), is the most likely candidate looking into buying Disney’s stake.

This had been previously hinted by Disney CEO Bob Iger when he appeared on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street (via Variety), in which he said: “Everything is on the table right now, so I am not going to speculate whether we are a buyer or a seller of [Hulu]. But I obviously have suggested that I’m concerned about undifferentiated general entertainment.”

A solo Hulk film starring Mark Ruffalo’s version has been long overdue within the MCU. Surely, while his origin story had already been told in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, Ruffalo has yet to showcase his MCU version. After all, it’s only fair since She-Hulk: Attorney At Law already had her own Disney+ series, so why shouldn’t the aforementioned hero?

Seeing as we are awaiting further updates on whether Disney will get ahold of the rights to Hulk and Namor, it is also likely we won’t be seeing their solo films until years later, unless they manage to squeeze them in between Marvel Phase 6 to 7.
