What Mark Ruffalo Wants Out of a Solo Hulk Movie

Though everyone loves Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, he hasn't really gotten the chance to shine as the character in his own solo movie. With rumor going out that Paramount no longer holds the rights to the Hulk movies, a lot of people want to see Ruffalo helm his own spinoff. Though we don't know when that would happen, Ruffalo gives us his idea of what he wants to see out of the film.

Talking to Variety, Ruffalo had this to say about a future solo Hulk movie:

"There's an idea that I think could be really interesting… We've never really followed him into his life. He's always kind of off on the side. He's like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Avengers. It'd be interesting to fill in all the blanks about what happened to him in between all these movies."

If anything, we already got our character exploration for Hulk with The Incredible Hulk film back in 2008. With that movie not being so loved by the fans though, I think it's high time for the MCU to try and launch the franchise again, especially with the She-Hulk series in the works with Disney.

If they were to write a new Hulk story though, I think it would be best if they made it a prequel like Black Widow. As it stands, Bruce Banner's character arc is already wrapped up, what with him taking control of the Hulk. Hulk's journey has always been the struggle of Banner to keep himself under control, and if they just decide to undo Professor Hulk, I think that would be character assassination.

If anything, we never really got into Hulk's origin in The Incredible Hulk so we can explore that. I'd love to see the relationship strain between Banner and Thunderbolt Ross in a film.

For now, the next MCU film, Black Widow, is set to come out on Nov. 6.
